The wreckage of the Lingam/Yonni structure after the Opera on Sat Night. The original structure had 4 penile spires. Rumor has it that a very large, not so well constructed, land yacht ran into it during the dust storm on Sat. Pepe, the creator went apeshit and took a blowtorch to the land yacht. Someone please verify this story.... MJL of the HOScouts sent me this account: Indeed, I happened upon the scene. Pepe was cutting into the landyacht after one of its outriggers caught on the Opera set during the dust storm. The landyacht was a monstrous frame with a mast taller than Pepe's spires, and it was berthed right on the Esplanade in front of the opera set, by the Suntan Lotion Massage tent in Gigsville. It was about the size of a large tractor-trailer, with two sets of big dually-tires on each of the stabilizing outriggers. It consisted of an open industrial-grade aluminum frame with some plywood platforms, and seemed well built when I checked it out and talked with the builder/captain during its construction. If you find a night photograph of the southern Esplanade on Thursday or Friday (I think the dust storm was on Saturday?), you will see a huge triangle of lights - the lights framed the sail of the yacht. I spoke with several people who actually saw the accident happen, because they were involved with the opera and were on the site. The yacht had been sailing out on the playa, taking advantage of the pre-storm winds. Apparently there were several people on the yacht. When the storm came up, the captain decided to bring the yacht in, but it was overtaken by the dustcloud, reducing visibility, before it goth to its berth - just as it approached Lingam/Yonni. It approached Lingam/Yonni enveloped in dust, and managed to not completely clear the set with one of the outriggers. Apparently the collision caused damage to the frame of the yacht, and hardly dented Lingam/Yonni. Nonetheless, by the time I came upon the scene, Pepe was furiously cutting the big aluminum tubing with an acetalene torch, collapsing the yacht. Big Bear and other Rangers were securing the area and letting him at it. One person, who supposedly was riding on the yacht or was trying to jump from the yacht before impact, was hurt in the accident.
